Korea Toray Group including Toray Advanced Materials Korea(TAK) and Toray Chemical Korea(TCK) will build the Korea Toray R&D Center in Magok, Seoul and promote sustainable growth of future advanced material business by strengthening R&D competence.
On October 11, about 100 executives and employees including chairman of TAK Lee Young-kwan, vice chairman of TAK Ijuin Hideki, vice president of TAK Jeon Hae-sang, vice president of TCK Lim Hee-seok participated on groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site located in the Magok industrial complex.
Korea Toray R&D center will have a total floor area of about 30,000 ㎡eters and will be constructed on eights floors above ground and two stories below the ground for one year. In November 2019, TAK, TCK and TAK Information Systems will establish operations there.
“Korea Toray research and development Center is the center of growth for the Korean Toray Group as well as the core of research and development for future growth,” says Chiarman Lee. “2019 will be the first year of Korea Toray Group’s second leap.”
The center will promote the development of high-value-added materials such as IT, electronics, and automobiles, as well as the development of basic and element technologies. From the early stage of R&D, joint research with customers will create research and development synergies through the development of next-generation technology development.
In addition, it will collaborate with Toray Group to find out large themes that can connect with customers’ future demand. By integrating marketing functions, it integrate with R&D to provide timely solutions to customers’ needs.
Also, it looks forward to increase synergy of win-win growth and research and development by implementing various support and cooperation for businesses, research institutes and universities around the country to strengthen the partnership, strengthening competitiveness through research and development technology and research personnel exchanges, and upgrading productivity with technical support.
Furthermore, it will contribute to the development of the community through various programs such as basic science programs and education support linked with the R&D center and the surrounding area.
